Programming activities
As per the community need assessment through conducting Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), SEEDO designed its development activities as follows:
a. Health Care Program :i) Preventive Health Care: – – Family Planning Activities (Counseling & awareness build up). – Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). – Water & Sanitation. – Nutrition Education. – Antenatal & Post Natal Care. – Counseling on Prevention & Control of Water born diseases. – Counseling on communicable diseases. ii) Curative Health Services: – – Out reach satellite clinics. – Distribution of Vit. -A. – Deworming Campaign.
b. Education Support: – Functional literacy for the group members. – Formation of Parents Association. – Absentee’s students follow-up. – School Health Education.
c. Agriculture Development:- – Increase agro based production; – Pond Fish Cultivation; – Live stock Development; – Intensive Vegetable cultivation; – Training support on modern high yielding crop production.
d. Human Rights Preservation: – Establishment of Women Rights. – Establishment of Child Rights. – Self-alliance. – Gender Development. – Human Legal Right
e. Environment Preservation: – Tree plantation. – Community based Nursery Development. – Social a forestation.
f. Creation of Self-employment opportunity:- – Motivation for group formation; – Create regular savings tendency; – Micro credit support for Income Generation Activities;

Activity statement
Group formation: SEEDO believes that after motivation individuals will make group. It has been motivating and increasing conscious of these people to develop their Socio-economic condition. It has organized & have been organizing groups with people from the deprived, neglected, landless, marginal farmers, divorced widow, abandoned and destitute women.
Organize/Conduct Weekly Group Meeting Every human has some hidden qualities and knowledge but due to some circumstances he/she could not reveal these knowledge and qualities. Meeting is a place of sharing ones ideas to other. Through exchanging the ideas of others project participants are enriched with knowledge of proper implementation of any project activity. In the same way group leaders of different groups are also aware of their group status and took future decision for their democracy development & future sustainability. Through meeting those hidden knowledge can be revealed. A group member can do one work but could not do organize ways. So, she/he should teach to do that work in organized ways and promptly. SEEDO arranged and arranging weekly group meetings regularly. List of issue based topics discussing in the session;
– Necessity of Savings;
– Credit utilization in IGA;
– Dowry, divorce, early marriage, marriage registration, birth registration, National Identity card, voter rights;
– Homestead gardening, Fish cultivation, cow fattening, goat/pig rearing, Poultry & duck rearing;
– Water, hygiene & sanitation;
– Common diseases and preventable ways;
– Family planning and EPI;
– Nutrition education;
– Care of Pregnant mother & new born child;
– Child education, mitigation of child labor;
– HIV/AIDS prevention and control;
– To make the people aware on health.
– To educate about STD/HIV-AIDS, Family Planning.
– Ensure supply of contraceptives to the fertile couples.
– To provide primary treatment to the poor patients.
– To educate on Nutrition Education.
– To advice the pregnant mothers and to provide the TT
Education support:- Education sector is one of the most important and on going programs of SEEDO, because nothing is alternative of education and education is the backbone of a nation. Due to poverty parents could not provide necessary clothes, proper diet and school fees to their children so children can’t go to schools regularly. For the upliftment of Govt. primary education, eradication of illiteracy and increase the literacy rate within the working area, SEEDO took initiatives for Non-formal Education. The objectives of SEEDO Non formal education are mentioned below:-
– To eradicate illiteracy among the target families and provide them literal knowledge,
– To make the target illiterate families’ literate by whom they can at least read and write and keep family income and expenditure accounts.
– To facilitate the Govt. Adult education program.
Agriculture development:- The life style and status of poor, landless and marginal families within the working area of SEEDO are heavily dependent on the agricultural livelihood. Because, they all belong to the farmers family. Their food, education, health and living status are subjected to the earning from the agriculture. So improvement of life status of target families is mostly related to the development of the agriculture. Because the whole cultivation process is ancient and production rate is very low. The areas of agriculture like fisheries, poultry and live stock farming are also in a poor condition. As a result the nutrition status and economic condition of this agriculture dependent population is getting worse day by day.
Training for Human resource Development:- SEEDO developed training venue in its unit offices. Project Staffs and beneficiaries are trained up batch-by-batch according the Training Calendar. The Training courses are provided to the beneficiaries such as, Skill Development, Leadership development, Savings & Credit Management, Utilization of credit money and interventions on various Income Generation Activities have been providing among the target group members.
Human Rights Preservation: SEEDO believes that human rights deal with human necessity for “expression”, “creativity” and conviviality for deciding own density. It looks critically into the socio-economic, political and cultural system, which directly or indirectly influence the life of the suffering humility. SEEDO’s Human Rights Preservation concept strongly considers that poverty and disadvantages stem from the unequal socio-economic and political power. It is rather an unequal participation in making decisions where determines the direction of the society. To attain the above objectives the following activities were undertaken by SEEDO:
– Provide legal aid and legal right education,
– Ensure advocacy among the target families,
– Ensure paralegal training among target families.
Income generation:- It is fact that Unemployment is the biggest problem in our country. Employment creation in the rural areas is much difficult. Lakh of educated unemployed youths are trying their best for employment but there is no employment opportunity. So it is very difficult to arrange employment in the rural areas for the illiterate and disadvantaged women folk. For these women SEEDO has undertaken micro-credit program by which they can undertake small income generating activities for their self-employment and family income development. SEEDO have been motivating the target families towards income generation activities to increase their income”. So involvement in economic activities is very important for the poor segment.
Disaster mitigation & preparedness: The organisation undertakes relief and rehabilitation programs to help the poor affected people at the time of disasters. There are some trained volunteers and staff for this purpose. Last year no remarkable disaster has hit the area.
Legal Aid Education: The rural and urban people are not conscious at all about their legal rights, legal laws etc. So, they become victims and cheated by the Matabbars and touts being misguided. SEEDO has been educating targeted people on legal education, arrange workshops and rallies on legal rights, women’s rights, arrange mediation meetings with the conflict creator and also provides legal supports to the poor victims.
Various Day observations: SEEDO observe various such World Health Day, Environmental Day, Mothers day, Literacy day during this project period SEEDO’s officials regularly attended in the various days observation organized by SEEDO & the local Govt. /NGOs department. SEEDO officials are regularly attending in the meeting of the Govt. Department. It may be mentioned here that SEEDO also celebrated various national and international days jointly with the local govt.
